Born in 1960, Barry Lane began playing golf when he was only 14 years old. Notably, before joining the European Tour, present DP World Tour, in 1982, he worked as an assistant professional at Downshire Golf Club near Bracknell.

It took Lane more than a decade to win all five championship titles on the European Tour. However, he never failed to impress everyone with his incredible golfing as he continued to finish no lower than 11th place on the European Tour Order of Merit between 1992 and 1995.

Representing his country four times at the Dunhill Cup and twice at the World Cup, winning the 1995 Andersen Consulting World Championship of Golf, etc. are some of the other feats the Englishman had achieved while he still was on the European Tour.

After turning 50 in 2010, the golfer joined the European Seniors Tour, the present Legends Tour. Ever since he joined, Lane finished 7th or higher on the season-long standings seven times, including his eight victories.

Notably, the DP World Tour recently renamed the Rookie of the Year Trophy to Barry Lane Rookie of the Year Trophy. And the golfer had the privilege to present the award earlier this month to Brazil’s Adilson Da Silva in an event held in Mauritius.
